This week brought news of more tech layoffs, notably with significant reductions at Uber and PayPal. The corporate restructuring driving such downsizing also hit event tech this week, resulting in layoffs across the global workforce at event management software-provider Bizzabo.

The event-tech company, which had employed about 150 people, "has made changes to its organization as part of a shift toward a faster way of operating and building," said cofounder Alon Alroy, CMO and CCO for the company. “These were difficult decisions affecting colleagues who contributed a great deal, and we are supporting everyone impacted.”

The layoffs affected "dozens" of employees across the company's workforce, according to the technology news site CTech. Bizzabo did not confirm the number or location of the eliminated positions.

Shoring up its spot in the marketplace

Bizzabo, which was founded in 2011, has become a leader in the event-tech marketplace. After laying off a significant percentage of its workforce during the shifting post-pandemic priorities of 2022, the company rebounded to stake its place among the Leaders in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Event Marketing and Management platforms in 2024 and 2025. Bizzabo dropped down a notch in Gartner's annual report to the Visionaries quadrant in 2026.

Like most event-tech players, Bizzabo has been investing in AI development for quite some time; most notably, the attendee copilot Bizzy AI was released this past March. Those investments, which likewise are affecting the company's internal development structure, will be seen in additional platform features on the way.

"We have big plans ahead of us," Alroy said, "and meaningful 'agentic' product announcements coming soon."
