IBTM World will be placing a renewed emphasis on meetings tech this fall, expanding its Event Technology & Services Zone, and sharpening its focus on practical, real-world solutions for industry professionals. The longtime business-events gathering will take place in Barcelona Nov. 17-19.

In addition to featuring popular, established event-tech exhibitors, the tech-dedicated zone will include IBTM Ignite, a program that will connect more than 100 startups with global buyers and at least 15 investors. Also on the docket is a new collaboration with Boldpush, "AI for Events – Demo Day Live," which will spotlight 10 companies and their tech.

The expanded technology offering not only acknowledges the hunger among event professionals for help navigating the AI frenzy, but the need to do so in a targeted, practical way that's applicable to their jobs. The move also hearkens back to the show's long history of supporting emerging event technology, and the days when the Corbin Ball–led EIBTM Tech Watch recognized then cutting-edge innovation such as facial-recognition check-in, beacon-based geolocation and multifunctional NFC badges.

Spotlight on AI for events

The new Demo Day collaboration with Boldpush, taking place Nov. 19, will feature 10 companies that have employed AI to craft practical solutions for event objectives, such as networking, engagement, operations and improved event experiences. Those providers are Advcy, CueForge, Event Flow App, Event Lab, Exhibitly, ExpoBooth, Highbar, Magipic, Memento Photo and Uchop. Attendees will see the tools in action and have the opportunity to meet the teams behind the tech and ask questions.

There also will be a dedicated AI Demo Exhibition Area, Lightning Demo Sessions and a Future Stage, all spotlighting practical, creative uses of AI for event professionals.

Startup showcase

IBTM Ignite is returning for its second year in an expanded form, increasing the number of startups by more than 25 percent. The program promises the opportunity to discover emerging tech before it reaches the mainstream. Startups interested in applying to participate in November still can do so here.
