With a mission to provide professional development and education for meeting and event planners, Event Leadership Institute is hosting the Event Agency Growth Summit on Dec. 15. The daylong virtual event will cover many challenges that the industry has been facing, like how to get new business, how to retain talent and how to manage costs. While ELI's first online summit — the Business Design and Strategy Summit held in June — addressed the broader events industry, this one is focused on agencies, third-party planners and independent planners.
"It's not really about how to produce their events; it's really about how do they grow their businesses," said Howard Givner, founder and CEO of ELI.
Givner will be moderating one of the panels, "Agency CEO Panel: The State of the Industry," to discuss the economic landscape for next year and how planners are adapting to uncertain event strategy. Panelists include Tina Madden, co-CEO and chief customer officer of Meetings & Incentives Worldwide; Kim Kopetz, president of Opus; Mark Shearon, founder and managing partner of Proscenium; and TJ Martin, CEO of Cramer.
One of the primary challenges that the industry has been dealing with throughout the pandemic is the labor shortage. In the panel, "The Great Talent Crunch: Strategies for Recruiting, Onboarding and Developing Talent in a Tight Labor Market," key insights will be delivered and discussed by Margaret Rafferty, chief people officer of Convene; Pam Sacree, chief people officer of FIRST; Bailey Roth, president and co-founder of Redstone Agency; and Tammy Kockaya, strategic partnerships and business development at Event Leadership Institute.
Other panels include "Driving New Revenue Streams with Event Tech Reseller Partnerships" and "How Independent Planners and Small Agencies Can Punch Above Their Weight."
"We think that this is long overdue as a way to provide insights and best practices and to exchange ideas," Givner said.
