The 171-room Delano, an iconic South Beach property in Miami, is open once again following a six-year closure that renovated the entire hotel.

In reimagining the Delano, Elastic Architects carefully restored many of its Art Deco elements, such as the facade and the terrazzo flooring. The original hexagonal columns, the mezzanine bridge spanning the lobby, and the Delano Pool and gardens also have been rebuilt.

The lobby features an upgrade of the property's white curtain walls and the same Salvador Dalí "Leda Chair" that graced the original layout. The Source spa, just up the iconic spiral staircase from the lobby, will open later this year. Other featured design elements in the space include the Calvet Chair by Antoni Gaudí, Lenny Kravitz's Lucite Piano and Murano glass Narcisso chandeliers.

Pieces throughout the property are curated by artist and social historian Nicola Green and her studio. Interspersed throughout are works by Nina Surel, Edouard Duval Carrie, Marielle Plaisir, Emma Ortiz, Natalie Galindo, Richard Rodriguez and more.

Water-view rooms

The hotel's 171 guest rooms include eight poolside bungalows and two penthouse suites. Each room has expansive windows that are configured to allow for sea views. Neutral color palettes and curved architectural detailing complete the look.

The eight two-story Poolside Bungalows feature living areas that open up to the pool and bedrooms on the second floor.

The Ocean View Penthouse and City View Penthouse, taking up the 14th floor, will open later this summer. They are designed for both leisure use and high-profile events. Each features three king beds, large private terraces with lounges, private kitchens, and dining spaces. The City View Penthouse also includes a private bar across its terrace. The two suites can be combined to form a full-floor, seven-bedroom configuration.

Impressive culinary lineup

The Delano Pool has been restored to its original elegance, and now will serve as the centerpiece of the signature Italian restaurant, Gigi Rigolatto. The dining venue spreads from the first floor out to the pool and bungalows. Inside, the restaurant offers terrace seating; outside, guests will find poolside tables, beach cabanas, sunbeds and a concept store.

At the entrance to the beach, the Bellini Bar serves cocktails and a condensed menu for oceanfront dining. The full menu at Gigi Rigolatto offers handmade pastas including the luxurious spaghetti limone e caviale — which features lemon zest, lemon juice and caviar — as well as shared plates and Italian classics.

Also part of the construction project was the re-creation of the hotel's Rose Bar. Just off the lobby with only eight seats, the lounge features Murano glass Narciso chandeliers that have been fully restored to mint condition.

On the fourth floor, Mimi Kakushi, the 1920s Osaka–inspired Japanese restaurant, blends traditional and modern Japanese cuisine, accompanied by an award-winning cocktail program. The restaurant will be accessible exclusively to the Delano Members Club members and hotel guests.

Café Delano offers an à la carte menu for breakfasts and breaks throughout the day.

On-site wellness

Opening this fall, The Source will feature a range of spa rituals and social activations, such as restorative treatments, a sunrise sound meditation, roller-skating sessions and more. The centerpiece of the new spa will be a 22-seat sauna, designed for holistic group experiences.
