The Above and Beyond Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing and rewarding hospitality workers who support the meetings industry, has opened up bidding for its year-end auction. The event, which will be held both online and in person, will raise funds for TAABF's 2023 grant programs. The organization previously raised $610,000 from April 2020 to June 2021, and the funds were distributed to hospitality workers who had been impacted by Covid-19.
Both auctions are supported by Northstar Meetings Group. Online bidding is open until Dec. 14. Bids can be made and monitored on the auction website Bid Beacon. The live auction will be held the evening of Dec. 13 at Northstar's annual Leadership Forum, at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, Calif.
"We all know the pandemic has hit our colleagues on the frontline of our industry really hard," said Mary Jo Blythe, founder and CEO of TAABF. "Our end-of-year auction appeals to our friends and colleagues in the meetings industry, to not only contribute prizes but to bid on them, as well."
More than 30 travel packages are up for bid, including hotel and resort stays, golf and spa packages, restaurant certificates, incentive gift merchandise, and more. The most valuable contributions will be reserved for the live auction, serving as an exclusive opportunity for Northstar Leadership Forum attendees to bid on and win prized packages. Several awards will be distributed to deserving hospitality professionals during the live event, and additional proceeds will go toward grants for 2023.
"Any and all contributions are welcome, and we're taking them now," said Blythe. "It's for an important cause, one we all can rally behind. We all know people who have served us so well but have been hit hard by the challenges we've faced these past few years."
