IMEX America, the meetings industry trade show that will take place Nov. 9-11 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, will require all attendees and exhibitors to be fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization, according to a Sept. 7 health and safety update posted to the event's website.
Participants will be considered fully vaccinated two weeks (14 days) after they have completed either the second dose in a two-dose series (e.g. Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) or after a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine, all completed by Oct.25. It also noted that Covid vaccine certifications must be uploaded via the event's chosen secure app.
Citing Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak’s recent announcement on mask-wearing at indoor events, the update also notes that the IMEX Group "will make a final decision on mask-wearing at IMEX America closer to the show, based on the most up-to-date guidance and advice."
IMEX America's chair Ray Bloom and CEO Carina Bauer, posted the following letter today on the website, to restate their commitment to health and safety:
"Our first responsibility is to you, our attendees, our exhibitors, our partners and our team. We’re 100 percent committed to your health and safety. We’re putting rigorous plans in place for our safe return to a live show.
We’re working closely with our partners in Las Vegas, MGM and Mandalay Bay, as we follow all federal, state, local and CDC guidelines. And we’re drawing on the experience of our U.S. and global industry partners, many of whom have successfully staged live events in the past few months.
Our venue, Mandalay Bay, has achieved the gold standard for prepared events — the Global Biorisk Advisory Council Star accreditation.
Our health and safety plan is designed to create the best show experience possible, one where you can safely and effectively do business. We hope the guidelines below answer your questions. We cannot wait to welcome you to Mandalay Bay, and to IMEX America 2021."
In a recent video, Bauer shared other major news and highlights of the 2021 version of the show.
