David DuBois, president and CEO of IAEEThe International Association of Exhibitions and Events has announced that president and CEO David DuBois, CMP-F, CAE, FASAE, CTA, will leave his post effective Oct. 1. DuBois will be taking on a new position as president and CEO of the Exhibitor Group, a marketing and media company.
"My intention was to retire from IAEE after 11 wonderful years, but I'm blessed to have received and accepted an incredible offer that is right in my wheelhouse," DuBois told NMG. Originally, he was going to leave when his contract expired at the end of the year, but the IAEE board has agreed to end the contract Sept. 30, the end of the organization's fiscal year. "I hope my legacy at IAEE is that the association is better than it was 11 years ago."
DuBois gives a lot of credit to Dennis Smith, vice president of business development for the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, and chair of the IAEE board of directors, who likened DuBois' move to an athlete announcing their retirement with fanfare and then coming back the next season.
A member of the Events Industry Council's Hall of Leaders, DuBois has held a number of executive positions in the hospitality and meetings industry over the course of more than 40 years, starting at hotels and moving into the top jobs at various meetings associations. These include COO of Meeting Professionals International, president and CEO of the Professional Convention Management Association, and his nearly 11 years leading IAEE.
“I could not be happier for David and his new role,” said board chair Smith. “David has worked tirelessly for the past 11 years to keep IAEE relevant in the global exhibitions and events industry, and has always held the best interests of our members in mind on a daily basis.”
