The Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile from Accor
Keeping track of hotel companies and their offerings is not for the faint-hearted: The sheer number of brands in this market (more than 1,000 worldwide, according to STR) and the robust rate of mergers and acquisitions in recent years create a daunting
task for meeting professionals.
To make sense of it all, Northstar Meetings Group has created this cheat sheet for the companies with the most meetings-hotel brands. Each flag is listed according to STR’s chain scale or, in the rare instances STR did not offer one, the brand’s own designation.
We’ve listed only those in upper midscale and higher, recognizing that midscale hotels are increasingly hosting smaller, local meetings when the need arises.

New Brands on the Block
Inside the Tribe Perth Kings Park in AustraliaNew hotel brands just keep coming. Following are a sampling of flags being launched by hospitality companies in the near future.
Signia Hilton, the company's new meetings-focused brand, is made up of properties that offer a minimum of 500 guest rooms and 75 square feet of meeting space per key. Already in the
works are the Signia Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek (a conversion of the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek) and the new-build convention
headquarters hotels coming to Atlanta and Indianapolis.
Caption by Hyatt is a lifestyle brand designed to create a sense of community for guests. The hotels will be anchored by distinctive food-and-beverage experiences,
developed in collaboration with restaurant guru Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, and will feature multipurpose areas designed for lounging and small events.
Accor’s new Tribe brand is geared to an “international clientele of regular travelers” that focuses on style rather than price. The first Tribe opened this year in Perth, Australia;
10 more Tribe properties are scheduled to open in Europe and Asia Pacific by 2022.
