Northstar Meetings Group is launching Under One Roof, an event that will connect planners with properties that can host and support a meeting entirely on-site. The inaugural event will be held June 20-22 at the Club Med Québec-Charlevoix in Canada.
"Planners are overworked and overstressed. If they can find an easy solution for their meetings, it’s great," said Angela Cox, vice president of events for NMG.
There are numerous benefits to having an event at an integrated hotel or resort, including fewer expenses, fewer contracts and less time spent planning.
"If you can get everything in one location where you don’t have to hire transportation, that’s budget-friendly and headache-friendly," Cox said. "And if you can work with one partner, rather than six partners, that’s also a benefit."
Properties that can host all aspects of a meeting "under one roof" are also great for smaller groups.
"If the trend of smaller meetings continues, why do you need to worry about different properties?" asked Cox. "You can find one that has different venues to use so you keep it fresh from moment to moment for your attendees."
The agenda includes one-on-one appointments with exhibitors, a site tour of the host property for buyers, and activities and tours around Quebec. Education sessions will be led by entrepreneur François-Guy Thivierge, and by Antoine Suzor-Fortier and Kathy Morin from the Coop de l’arbre. Suppliers include Bahia Principe Hotels and Resorts, Le Massif de Charlevoix, and Silversea Cruises.
The Club Med Québec-Charlevoix opened in December 2021 with 302 rooms, 25 suites and nearly 4,000 square feet of meeting space.
"We wanted to make sure people didn’t just think of Caribbean and Mexican all-inclusive properties; we wanted to show the planners a different option," Cox said.
