With new gates coming to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, it's no wonder a host of new hotels are popping up in surrounding cities. An Autograph Collection property from Marriott is on the drawing board for Fort Worth, and Irving's new headquarters hotel opens in February.

Recent Additions

The $1 billion TEXRail commuter train was scheduled to begin service on Jan. 5 from downtown Fort Worth to Grapevine and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Coming Soon

The historic Stockyards district is getting a makeover, with work already proceeding on the first phase of the $175 million project. Among the plans, an Autograph Collection hotel is planned for the area, to debut in spring 2020 with 200 rooms, 15,000 square feet of meeting space and an elegant event barn. In addition, a rustic resort called the Hotel Drover will be built at the end of Mule Alley's planned street of shops, eateries, offices and live-entertainment venues.

On Dec. 6, the board of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport approved $4.8 million for preconstruction services, beginning the process of adding four new gates to Terminal D.

A multimillion-dollar renovation was set to be completed this month at the 1,840-room Sheraton Dallas Hotel. All 230,000 square feet of meeting space and public spaces, as well as 1,300 of the rooms, were redone.

Fort Worth's meetings properties include the 614-room Omni Fort Worth Hotel, 504-room Renaissance Worthington Hotel, 429-room Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa, and 294-room Hilton Fort Worth.

Group Venue

Onto the list of specialty spirits being distilled around the country comes BLK Eye Vodka, made from non-GMO black-eyed peas and corn. Accordingly, the aptly named BlackEyed Distilling Co., occupying a 1911 firehouse, is open for tastings and special events for up to 400.

Recent Additions

The 364-room Dallas Marriott Las Colinas has completed a multimillion-dollar refresh. Phase 1 redesigned the guest rooms with a mix of wood, metal and leather. Phase 2 refreshed the hotel's lobby and 27,000 square feet of meeting space. The property's Bistro Fiera serves American fare with a Mediterranean flair.

Coming Soon

The 350-room Westin Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas opens in February. The hotel will have 16,000 square feet of meeting space, the Mesa Mezcal restaurant, the Craft Coffee Shop and the Vibe Pool Bar.

Irving offers more than 12,000 guest rooms. Among top properties are the 431-room Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinasand 410-room Omni Mandalay.

Group Venue

LAW, at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, wasn't named for the storied lawmen of the Wild West, but rather "land, air, water," which signifies the fresh local ingredients that make up the "bold" Texan fare served here. Buy out the place for 200, or have a party for 70 on the restaurant's top level.
