Among the technology announcements coming out of the Global Business Travel Association Convention this week in Dallas, travel distribution giant Sabre is broadening its group-booking capabilities via integrations with Cvent.

With an eye toward streamlining functionality across the travel management and meetings platforms within organizations, both Cvent Instant Book and Cvent Passkey are now integrated with Sabre Hospitality's SynXis Central Reservation System. Passkey allows planners to manage room blocks, while Instant Book offers real-time rates and booking capabilities for small, simple meetings at participating hotels.

The move opens up more sales opportunities to hoteliers seeking to expand group business, allowing them to target events of various sizes with unique rates as well as potentially streamlining operations once that business is booked. For Cvent, it could be an opportunity to get the recently launched Instant Book adopted by more properties.

"The integrations further expand our platform functionality in a way that benefits both the hotelier and the event organizer," said Janine Alsalam, vice president of sales at Cvent. "Eighty-five percent of planners have told us they would be more likely to book a property that has direct instant-booking capabilities, and we’re proud to bring this capability to Sabre’s hotel clients. We continue to work with our industry partners, like Sabre, to broaden our platform functionality and integrate with the systems that hoteliers and event organizers use every day."
