Westin-Resort-Conference Center

Foxhall Resort in Douglasville, Ga., has been approved to add a Westin hotel and conference center. The property will have 250 rooms and the conference center will be 50,000 square feet. Ground is expected to be broken on the Westin Resort and Conference Center the third quarter of 2022, with an opening date scheduled for 2024. Plans for the property have been unanimously approved by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. The county also approved the construction of additional residential villas.

The complex is an outdoor lifestyle resort on 1,100 acres that currently offers 46 rooms and a 4,600-square-foot meeting room. The new hotel will rise on 50 acres, the latest amenity at the property. In June 2021, Foxhall debuted a clubhouse featuring a restaurant and bar, a market and retail shop, additional meeting space, and an infinity pool.

"Foxhall Resort has become a global go-to destination for corporate retreats, weddings, outdoor enthusiasts and families seeking fun and adventure just 20 minutes from the Atlanta airport," said Harrison Merrill Jr., president and CEO of Foxhall Resort. "We're excited to introduce more people to this beautiful land and the outdoor experiences here, and in doing so, to create an economic juggernaut for Douglas County."

The Westin Resort and Conference Center is expected to create more than 400 jobs and generate millions of dollars in taxes for both Douglas County and its school system over the next 15 years. The Westin and Foxhall Resort are expected to attract more than 100,000 people to Douglas County, along with roughly 1,000 corporate events, weddings and social gatherings each year.

"We envision one of the largest economic development corridors in the United States along the South Fulton Parkway between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Foxhall Resort," said Foxhall founder Harrison Merrill Sr. "We're excited to be at the forefront of that vision."
