The 20th annual Americas Lodging Investment Summit opened today, bringing together the largest number of hospitality industry professionals since the beginning of the pandemic. An estimated 1,800 have gathered at the JW Marriott L.A. Live and Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for the hotel investment conference, produced by the BHN Group, a division of Northstar Travel Group.
The event opens on the heels of the 7th annual ALIS Law conference, held July 25-26 at the Courtyard and Residence Inn Los Angeles L.A. Live. “The speakers, sponsors and delegates at ALIS and ALIS Law are industry leaders,” noted Jeff Higley, president of the BHN Group. “They have sent us a clear message that they want to lead by example as the entire travel industry steps into recovery mode.”
It will be a difficult task for the travel and tourism industry to fully recover from the pandemic, Higley added, “and there will be twists and turns along the way,” such as the indoor mask mandate that L.A. County reinstated last week due to a concerning rise in Covid-19 cases. All delegates, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear masks indoors. The latest CDC protocols for group gatherings also are in place for the event. “We’re grateful that the hotel investment community is taking this task to heart,” said Higley.
To maximize networking and engagement, organizers are using the Swapcard platform, which allows attendees to access conference information, create a personal schedule, find location and speaker information, and interact in real time with other participants.
Conference sponsors include Accor, Aimbridge Hospitality, Ashford, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, CBRE, Choice Hotels, G6 Hospitality, Hilton, Hodges Ward Elliott, Hyatt, IHG Hotels and Resorts, JLL, Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Park Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Sonesta + RHL Corp.
