Radisson Blue Resort Maldives

Tucked away in the Indian Ocean is the tropical nation of Maldives, a popular luxury destination made up of 26 major atolls and more than 1,000 coral islands. It's home to several high-end hotels and resorts and now, a new property is slated to open in the country: Radisson Blu Resort Maldives.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group announced Thursday that the hotel group has signed a management agreement with Chang Hua Holdings for the property, which is the first Radisson Blue resort in the market.

"We are excited with our first hotel project in the Maldives and believe that it will be a success," Li Fei Chang, managing director of Chang Hua Holdings, said in a statement. "Our partnership with Carlson Rezidor stems from their proven expertise and management capabilities. We are confident that the Radisson Blu brand will position us for solid performance, setting inspiring and authentic experiences for our guests."

The hotel is slated to open in the first quarter of 2019 in the southern part of Maldives' Alifu Dhaalu Atoll. Located 65 miles away from Male International Airport, the hotel is accessible via a 30-minute plane ride followed by a 15-minute speedboat journey to the property.

In addition to views of the Indian Ocean, the resort features 128 villas, including family villas and a premium overwater villa. Guests can enjoy the yoga pavilion and spa, the hotel's in-house sea sports and dive center, and the restaurants and bar on the island.

"As a global brand, Radisson Blu Resort Maldives will provide the international leisure market with a full range of innovative design-led products and services, delivering genuine and relevant guest experiences with Radisson Blu's distinctive Yes I Can! service philosophy," Thomas Hagemann, a vice president with Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, said in a statement. "Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group continues our growth trajectory in Asia Pacific, we are pleased to expand our footprint into the Maldives with an iconic Radisson Blu resort on the island."
