Effective May 1, Andrew Weir will head Destination Toronto as its new president and CEO. Weir has spent more than 18 years on the convention and visitors bureau's leadership team, includingi in his current role as executive vice president of destination development.
His tenure with Destination Toronto also includes working as chief marketing officer and as vice president of communications. In addition, Weir has served on various industry boards, including Destination International's Destination Marketing Accreditation Program Board and as chair of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.

The city generated more than US$5.1 billion in visitor spending and welcomed nearly 9 million overnight visitors in 2023. Rekha Khote, CEO of MK2 Hospitality and chair of Destination Toronto's board of directors, said the board conducted a thorough North American search to fill its top position.
"Andrew is the right leader for our organization, bringing a deep understanding of Toronto's visitor economy, a vision for the business, and the ability to bring people together," said Khote. "We are confident that his established strong community connections will act as a catalyst for driving innovation and growth in critical areas of the business."
