Who you know means a lot in the world of business. IMEX America, for example, has benefited from long-standing partnerships that have enhanced the quality of the event for all attendees, according to Ray Bloom, chairman of the IMEX Group. "We've established partnerships and relationships with key organizations in the USA, which have grown and developed over the years. This, in turn, has enabled us to create a show that's rich in content and personalized experiences, and perfectly suited to the diverse business community it serves."

Indeed, key partnerships with leading organizations are beneficial on multiple levels.

"We know that many of these partners, along with others including our intermediaries, use the show as a cornerstone of their events calendar, holding and planning their own events around IMEX America," Bloom explains. "Associations, agencies, corporations all see and use IMEX America as a business and connections hub."

Strategic partnerships also help IMEX America better serve an increasingly diverse audience, Bloom adds.

"All the major trade associations organize member gatherings, education and networking events at the show, which helps us ensure that every sector of the industry is represented and derives value from the show," he says. "In addition, what is particularly gratifying is the level of fundraising that is achieved around the show, with the MPI, Site and PCMA Foundation raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for research, education and scholarships each year. Partnerships have allowed us — and the industry — to compound the power of IMEX America."

One of IMEX America's longest-running partnerships is with Northstar Meetings Group, which since 2010 has served as the event's major media partner; the company also publishes the IMEX America Special Show Report and IMEX America Resource Hub. "One of the things I'm most proud of regarding IMEX America is the outstanding partnerships that we've built and enjoyed across the industry, including with Northstar Meetings Group," Bloom says. "We've partnered with Northstar Meetings Group as our major media partner at IMEX America since the very first show. Northstar have also used the show to organize their own events, including golf tournaments, in previous years."

The longstanding partnership has been a natural fit for both organizations since the beginning, according to Diane DiMaggio, global business development director at Northstar Meetings Group. "The IMEX America/Northstar partnership has been a win-win for both organizations, as we complement each other by serving the market in distinctly different ways," she says. "IMEX America has brought the industry together but needed the reach that Northstar provides through its many media channels.

"IMEX America has filled a huge void in the U.S. meeting and incentive market," DiMaggio adds, noting that IMEX America's debut in 2011 marked a new direction for North America's meetings industry. "While there were two trade shows in Europe, there weren't any over here. Many U.S. planners would head to the European shows to research new destinations and venues for future events. IMEX America brought the world to the U.S., showcasing many new and exciting destinations that Americans may not have considered in the past."
