With 583 rooms and 43,056 square feet of meeting space, the Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay, Singapore, takes a holistic approach to sustainability. Among the hotel’s many initiatives: In 2022, the use of solar panels as renewable energy resulted in a
reduction of 99,153 tons of carbon emission, while a water-filtration system and the provision of glass bottles in all guest rooms enabled the property to eliminate 360,000 single-use plastic bottles in a year.
But that’s not all. Replacing
miniature bath amenities with refillable pump bottles in all guest rooms eliminates 2 million miniature plastic bottles a year. Installing low-flow shower heads has reduced water flow from 27 liters to 9 liters per minute, and the output of the on-site
Urban Farm provides fully 20 percent of the hotel’s requirements.

The sustainability program at the 7,100-room Venetian Resort Las Vegas is one of the most extensive in the industry. The focus is on water conservation, conserving energy, reducing waste and developing better buying habits. Meeting planners can work with
the resort to implement green programs — and even get attendees involved. On the food front, the resort sources from organic and artisan suppliers in a 300-mile radius. Thanks to these and other efforts, the entire property is powered by 100% renewable
energy.

By virtue of its Green Initiatives mission, the 80-room Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena, Ill., cultivates a vegetable and herb garden to provide fresh ingredients for its three restaurants, runs a composting program that diverts organic waste from
landfills, and keeps expanding its use of solar-panels to power the property. Even the on-site Stonedrift Spa uses earth-friendly products and eliminates single-use packaging.
