Nemacolin

Home to two of the Northeast’s most lauded and scenic golf courses, the 320-room Nemacolin presides over 2,200 scenic acres in the picturesque Laurel Highlights in Farmington, Pa. The two 18-hole Pete Dye-designed layouts include Mystic Rock, a past PGA Tour host with strikingly beautiful lakes and waterfalls, and Shepherd’s Rock, its 7,290 yards designed to be both fun and challenging. In addition, the resort’s Golf Academy offers private and group instruction, corporate clinics and custom club fittings, all using some of the most advanced technology in the industry.

Nemacolin has 35,000 square feet of exhibit space and a total of 28 meeting rooms, including the glittering Marquis Ballroom, able to host up to 900 people for a reception and 550 for a banquet. A number of whimsical, intimate spaces include the Woodlands Auto Toy Store and secluded outdoor gardens.

Omni Mount Washington Resort

With 269 guest rooms and suites in the verdant mountains of Bretton Woods, N.H., the Omni Mount Washington Resort offers the award-winning championship Mount Washington Course. This 18-hole, par-72 layout has been restored to designer Donald Ross’ original plan, including a “meadowland design” of wide-open vistas that make use of the land’s natural rolls and swells. In addition, the on-site 9-hole, par-35 Mount Pleasant Course offers especially challenging play alongside New Hampshire’s scenic Ammonoosuc River. The resort has a full 30,000 square feet of meeting space, including boardrooms, a variety of indoor and outdoor venues and the Presidential Ballroom.

Sunday River Resort

In Newry, Maine, the Sunday River Golf Club features an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed championship course that winds through woods and dramatic elevation changes in a stunning mountainside setting. Facilities include a clubhouse, restaurant and bar, pro shop and practice range. The resort also has nearly 500 guest rooms and over 40,000 square feet of event space across multiple lodging properties and venues, able to host an afternoon work session for 12, an awards banquet for 200 or a weeklong conference for up to 500 people.

Finalist: Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club

On Cape Cod Bay in the quaint town of Brewster, Mass., the 429-acre Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club has 340 guest rooms divided among two properties — a historic mansion and a group of cozy villas. The resort’s 18-hole, par-72 Troon Privé course was designed by Jack Nicklaus with tree-lined fairways and rolling topography, where groups can enjoy leisure play, private lessons or half-day golf schools. Other on-site features include 21,000 square feet of meeting space that can host groups of from 12 to 500, a private beach, five pools, tennis, five restaurants, a spa, hiking trails and more.

Rosen Shingle Creek

Guests arriving at Orlando’s Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel are immediately surrounded by a championship golf course created by the Arnold Palmer Design Co. and set among 255 acres of lush Florida flora. Elevated greens and strategically placed bunkers abound on this 18-hole, par-72 layout, and the wide fairways entice golfers to swing away — but there’s a catch: The course’s site along Shingle Creek, the headwaters of the Florida Everglades, means that the scenic water factors heavily in any game. 

Sporting classic Spanish Revival architecture, the hotel has 1,501 elegant guest rooms and suites, 15 dining options, a world-class spa and over 524,000 square feet of event space, a perfect setting for corporate team-building excursions and more.

The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa

The serenity of coastal Georgia, with its tidal marshes and abundant wildlife, provides the canvas for The Club at Savannah Harbor, an 18-hole course and feature attraction at the 403-room Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa. Created by Robert Cupp and Sam Snead, the layout is delightfully challenging, with scenic views of the Savannah River and wetlands. Along with a 22,000-square-foot clubhouse, the resort has a spa, a riverside pool and 286,600 square feet of event space, with over 50,000 square feet outdoors. And it’s all just a short ferry ride from Savannah’s colorful Historic District.

Spanning 200 acres of beautiful Florida landscaping and wildlife, the Hawk’s Landing Golf Club surrounds the  2,010-room Orlando World Center Marriott. The 18-hole, par-70 course includes water play on 15 holes, creating a challenging experience for golfers of all skill levels (with optional on-site help from the Orlando Golf Academy). The resort also has the River Falls Water Park, shuttles to nearby Walt Disney World and 30,000 square feet for events, including impressive pre-function and outdoor lawn spaces.

The 643-room Trump National Doral Miami has four championship golf courses, including the famed 18-hole, 7,608-yard Blue Monster that has hosted prestigious PGA Tour events for over 50 years. The resort also features a 48,000-square-foot spa, five dining options, the acclaimed BLT Prime restaurant and a comprehensive fitness center, not to mention over 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.

Marriott Lincolnshire Resort

In the heart of the Midwest, the 390-room Marriott Lincolnshire Resort in Illinois prides itself on its Crane’s Landing Golf Course, an 18-hole layout that stretches over 6,200 yards across 110 acres of rolling terrain. Designed by George Fazio, the course is set amidst a breathtaking natural habitat of dense forests, sparkling woodlands, wetlands and lush meadows. Other on-site recreational options include indoor and seasonal outdoor swimming pools, a fitness center and endless walking trails.

The resort’s Three Embers fine-dining restaurant presents a seasonally inspired menu with ingredients from local farms and purveyors, while the more casual Wright’s Brew and Bistro serves local craft brews on tap and bistro-style fare. Boyne Mountain Resort

Two championship 18-hole golf courses await at the 220-room Boyne Mountain Resort in Northern Michigan. The Alpine layout enjoys a mountainside setting overlooking Deer Lake, while 13 of the holes at the Monument are dedicated to golf legends such as Byron Nelson and Peggy Kirk Bell. Both courses have lake-view tee boxes. The resort, which recently achieved its 100 percent renewable-energy goal, also has 415 acres for skiing and meeting/event space for up to 800 attendees.

An AAA Four-Diamond, all-seasons resort set on 1,300 acres in the southeastern Wisconsin community of Lake Geneva, the 358-room Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has two award-wining golf courses: the 18-hole, par-72 Brute, with huge rolling greens averaging over 8,000 square feet each, and the Scottish-inspired highlands, a links-style layout with scenic hills, trickling creeks and lush foliage. After-golf rejuvenation can be had via the new “Recovery Zone” at the in-house WELL Spa + Salon, while 62,000 square feet of meeting and convention space are available to planners.

Omni PGA Frisco Resort

With 500 guest rooms and suites, a spa, four pools and 13 dining destinations, the Omni PGA Frisco Resort in Texas has it all — along with two top 18-hole championship golf courses and a 10-hole par-3 short course. The Fields Ranch East course, with a layout designed by Gil Hanse, features smallish greens with gentle rolls and strong slopes that place a premium on accurate approach shots. The Fields Ranch West, designed by Beau Welling, rambles along Frisco’s Panther Creek, surrounded by native field grasses, live oaks and mesquite trees and amenable to players of all skill levels.

Likewise impressive is the resort’s 127,000 square feet of meeting space, which spans 19 rooms and includes two stunning ballrooms, an elegant indoor/outdoor pavilion flooded with natural light, and outdoor gathering spaces spread among nine venues.

The Wigwam

In Litchfield Park, Ariz., the 331-room, recently renovated Wigwam has three 18-hole championship golf courses. The Red Course, built in 1972 and designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., was renewed in 2022 with a full bunker enhancement. The Blue Course, also designed by Jones, welcomes beginner golfers to enjoy its small, elevated greens while engaging in short and mid-iron play. The Gold Course, nicknamed “Arizona’s Monster,” is perhaps the state’s most challenging. Groups can get private lessons from the affiliated Warren Schutte Players Academy.

On 200 lush acres, the AAA Five-Diamond luxury Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa has 327 newly redesigned guest rooms and suites in coastal Carlsbad, Calif. On-site are the new Miraval Life in Balance Spa Aviara and 78,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor function space, along with the Aviara Golf Club designed by Arnold Palmer. Uniquely sculpted around rolling hillsides and landscaped with wildflowers native to Southern California, the par-72 course offers plenty of bunkers and water features in a 7,007-yard layout for players of all ages and abilities.

Located in Washington state’s stunning Cascade Mountains, the Suncadia Resort has 254 guest suites and penthouses, over 15,000 square feet of meeting rooms, ballrooms and breakout rooms and two 18-hole championship golf courses, all within 80 miles of Seattle and Seattle-Tacoma Airport. The resort’s Prospector Course, designed by Arnold Palmer Course Design Co., is set within a pine and fir forest with lakes and ponds; the family-friendly Rope Rider Course, designed by Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design, is named after the coal miners who once worked the area. Many gatherings center around the resort’s world-class 18-hole, par-72 Arnold Palmer Course. Its front nine challenges golfers with a Scottish Links-style layout, while the back nine has a more tropical setting as it winds through verdant landscapes. When played from the Palmer (black) tees, this 7,218-yard seaside course presents a stiff challenge to even the best players.
