When it comes to planning successful and memorable meetings and events — the ones that impress attendees from the first minute to the last — there is simply no compromising on the location and service. At The Newbury Boston, an unprecedented property-wide transformation has elevated this landmark with a host of new offerings designed for business meetings, incentive experiences and corporate events.
Boasting an enviable position on The Boston Public Garden in the heart of the Back Bay, The Newbury Boston offers 16,000-square-feet of meeting and event space suitable for gatherings ranging from intimate private dining to corporate meetings and incentives. Multiple event spaces with connecting pre-function rooms make up the hotel’s expansive second floor. The Assembly Room, the hotel’s largest space, extends 3,835 square-feet with the capacity to accompany up to 400 guests. Lush green curtains and ornate carpet design mimic the flora of The Public Garden, while the silver leaf ceilings are an opulent homage to the building’s extravagant galas of the past.
For more intimate gatherings, The Newbury Boston offers a variety of spaces that are each more unique than the other. The Garden Room, the building’s original Main Dining Room, features the iconic cobalt blue chandeliers of the Ritz Carlton era with restored molding dancing across the ceiling and windows overlooking The Public Garden. Connected to the Assembly Room by a walkway, guests can mingle and move between both ballrooms with ease and comfort. The Newbury’s other event and meeting spaces, the Newbury Salon, Hunt’s Room and Ivy Room, each offer a different vista for guests to enjoy and combine the modern heritage of the area, and all feature natural light.
The newest technology has been seamlessly integrated within the various meeting and event venues. Digital presentations, video streaming and conferencing, wireless connectivity for audio, and high-speed internet all function flawlessly, without detracting from the stately character of the space. Of course, it is all expertly managed by dedicated staff who attend to every aspect of your event from start to finish.
Guests visiting The Newbury Boston for meetings and events also experience some of the finest dining in the city, with Major Food Group leading the culinary team. From Contessa, the dramatic rooftop restaurant, to in room personal dining to the banquet and catering menus, each dining experience is thoughtfully curated and executed with precision.
Designed by acclaimed interior design firm Champalimaud Design, each of the 286 guest rooms and suites incorporate a calming color palette and tactile materials that are contemporary, yet reflective of the tailored Bostonian aesthetic. The Newbury offers 90 luxury suites, the most in all of Boston, including 40 with wood burning fireplaces and two dramatic Presidential Suites.
In designing the hotel’s expansive public spaces, internationally recognized architect Jeffrey Beers (founder and President of the interior architecture and design firm Jeffrey Beers International) sought to invoke the spirit of the building’s timeless legacy by incorporating many historic details, including the original cobalt blue chandeliers from the Main Dining Room, into the meticulous redesign.
Through a separate entrance on Arlington Street across from the Public Garden, The Street Bar transports guests back to the 1920s with its speakeasy ambience and classic leather barstools, cozy fireplace, and dark wood accents. Just off The Newbury’s lobby is an intimate Library lounge exclusively reserved for hotel guests, where custom furnishings make for an intimate, cozy retreat that is perfect for settling in with a good read or relaxing fireside.
