Web in Travel (WiT), the Singapore-based content and conference producer focused on travel technology, distribution and marketing, is introducing a Travel Roadshow event series. The program will kick off from the Marina Bay Sands hybrid broadcast studio in Singapore from 6 – 8 p.m. local time on March 25. The hybrid event will feature in-person and virtual speakers and will be streamed live to a worldwide audience.
“We wanted our road trip to start at the venue where we hosted our historic hybrid event on Oct. 1, 2020, and where we will be returning for WiT Experience Week 2021 this October,” said Yeoh Siew Hoon, founder of WiT. “Our roadshows will provide a ‘campfire’ of sorts for our community to gather round for updates, insights and ideas on how to get through this year.”
The event series is consistent with a commitment to in-person and hybrid events by Northstar Travel Group, the parent company of WiT and Northstar Meetings Group. Northstar’s travel brands, serving the retail, meetings, business travel, technology and hotel-investment markets, have continued to host live and omnichannel events for audiences around the globe.
Harnessing the Digital Advantage
The new hybrid event studio at Marina Bay Sands, located at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, is designed to accommodate a live studio audience with a maximum capacity of 50 people. The venue offers broadcast-quality livestreaming capabilities and hologram functionality. “With virtual and hybrid here to stay, we look forward to experimenting with new ideas and new tech with the Marina Bay Sands team on how we can run events that are more engaging and compelling for a new age of meetings,” Yeoh added.
“Our collaboration with WiT last October to host Singapore’s first hybrid trade event was a key industry milestone,” said Paul Town, senior vice president of resort operations at Marina Bay Sands. “The event showcased the evolution as well as digitalization of event design and experiences. This year, Marina Bay Sands and WiT will continue to push the boundaries by adopting a digital-first approach and incorporating mixed-reality technology to enhance the delegate experience.”
Expedia Group has joined the roadshow series as a partner and will be present at WiT’s Travel Roadshows around the globe through August. Future dates are April 29, May 27, June 24, July 29 and Aug. 26, 2021, with the respective locations to be announced soon.
“It’s more important than ever for us to come together as an industry, and we look forward to hearing from travel experts and sharing our own ideas throughout the series,” said Greg Schulze, senior vice president, transport and cruise, at Expedia Group.
The Travel Roadshow will be powered by GEVME, the Singapore-based virtual event platform and WiT event partner this year. Refer to the WiT event calendar for more information or email Gerry Pang.
