June Meetings Volume Grew 30 Percent Year-Over-Year

The top 25 U.S. markets have recovered to 90 percent of prepandemic levels, according to research from Knowland.

June 2023 meetings volume in the United States is up 30.3 percent over June 2022, according to meetings data provider Knowland. The top 25 markets in the country have recovered to 90 percent of 2019 levels. 

Austin, Texas, and Nashville saw the largest growth compared with prepandemic levels, rising 74 percent and 42 percent, respectively. Both destinations offer several new hotels and an increase in nonstop flight routes.  

The cities that held the most events last month were, in order, Chicago; Los Angeles/Long Beach, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; San Diego; and Anaheim-Santa Ana, Calif. The top drivers for these markets included events from associations and education, nonprofit, pharmaceutical/biotech and technology organizations. 

The destinations that experienced the largest year-over-year growth for meetings were South Michigan; Delaware; Kansas; and Mobile, Ala.
