Global Meetings Industry Day, celebrated on April 4, 2019, brings together leaders from across the industry to highlight the impact meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions have on people, businesses and the economy.
Spearheaded by the Meeting Mean Business Coalition, GMID is an international day of advocacy regarding business value and its $2.65 trillion in global economic impact. GMID 2019 Events
Attendees of Northstar Meetings Group's Destination California -- currently getting underway in Los Angeles -- will enjoy a trip to the GMID SoCal celebration at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. The festivities will mark the one time all year that local chapters of PCMA, MPI, SITE and ILEA come together.
The day will begin for Destination California attendees with a Mimosa toast celebration. Guests will then have the opportunity to participate in GMID SoCal, and get to feel like a pro athlete while attending an educational industry update in the Rose Bowl locker room.
The event will also include educational sessions on data-driven event design from San Diego State University and MPI Academy, and will end with an afterparty full of entertainment and dessert.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will join with leaders from across the local meeting and convention industry in celebration of GMID 2019.
In Vegas, the meetings industry supports approximately 65,000 jobs with an economic impact of $9.8 billion. Their signature GMID 2019 event will showcase the industry’s strength, in Las Vegas and beyond, as well as the tremendous value of face-to-face meetings.
Attendees at the Vegas-based celebration can expect to receive valuable insights from thought leaders in economic development and also key takeaways for developing compelling and engaging event programming.

Massachusetts' capital city will bring together meetings and event professionals throughout New England for a day of region-specific networking and education.

The Meetings Industry Council of Colorado will host an educational panel discussion on the hospitality industry in the Centennial State, along with an industry-wide networking reception.
This event is open to all MIC organization board members.

Twelve Texas-based meeting and events industry associations will come together to network and advocate for important industry initiatives. With six highlighted speakers and an expert panel, GMID Austin looks to show the real power of what business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions collectively accomplish.
"Great things happen when people come together," says the official 2019 Austin GMID website. "Face-to-face interaction is the platform where deals are struck, relationships are forged and ideas are generated."

New York plans to honor GMID by lighting up a number of structures in Brooklyn and Manhattan with blue lights (MMBC’s signature color) to raise awareness of the impact that face-to-face meetings have on the global economy and NYC.
The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Northeast, along with MPIGNY and PCMA, will host an education and engagement session on Global Meetings Industry Day, focusing on human trafficking and combatting this global issue.

NYC & Company will also spearhead and participate in the Tristate Meeting Planner event, drive local awareness efforts, sponsor and partake in regional activations nationwide and join global gatherings. According to the CVB, nearly 250 planners from across the region will gather for a night of networking.

The nation's capital will boast its own event on GMID, hosted by the PCMA Capital Chapter and MPI Potomac Chapter, entitled "Growing Advocacy from Coast to Coast." There will be a full day's-worth of events and education, followed by a reception. According to the event's webpage, the D.C. event will consist of "...a day of advocacy, education, and networking as we learn to engage legislators, dive into hot topics, and support a worthy cause along the way."
