Business Travel News, a Northstar Travel Group brand, inducted four industry professionals into its Business Travel Hall of Fame during a reception Monday evening at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City.
BTN's "Class of 2019" recipients are Reggie Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Cvent; Christie Hicks, who retired from her position as senior vice president of sales for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide in 2015 but continues to be active in the industry and is
a board member of Maritz Holdings; Ralph Colunga, senior management of business operations and thought leadership for SAP Concur; and the late Sir Maurice Flanagan, a former British Airways and Emirates executive. The 2019 honorees join 40 professionals already inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Each recipient was recognized for their ongoing contributions to the business-travel industry. Aggarwal, for example, founded Cvent in 1999 as a two-person start-up. Today, Cvent is widely recognized as one of the industry's leading meetings, events and hospitality technology platforms, with more than 4,000 employees and 300,000 users worldwide.
Also awarded Monday evening were several scholarships. BTN presented Merril Guzman, a member of the class of 2020 in the hospitality program at New York University, with the American Express Global Commercial Services Scholarship. Madeline Aardema, a member of the class of 2022 in the hospitality program at NYU, received the United Airlines Dave Halfman Scholarship.
Susan Kang and Rebecca Rodriguez, class of 2020 and 2019, respectively, of the hospitality-management program at Pennsylvania State University, were each awarded the Dan and Gloria Bohan Foundation Scholarship.
