26 Hotel Grand Openings for 2023

A preview of new properties that will welcome group business this year.

Looking for something new? You’ll find plenty of options in 2023. The pipeline is flush with grand openings, some of which were delayed by the pandemic and now are eager to welcome an influx of group business. From the East Coast to Down Under, these are some of the exciting hotels poised to open this year.

Domestic

Arizona

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU
Opening: April
On the campus of Arizona State University, this 330-room Omni (pictured above) is set to open its doors in the spring, and is now accepting group-booking requests. Among its amenities will be four dining options, several retail outlets and 36,000 square feet of meeting space, making it one of the largest event venues in the city.

Opened: January
The Egyptian Motor Hotel opened its doors in Phoenix at the end of January. The property, which originally debuted in the 1950s before operating as a different brand for decades, has been restored with its signature Egyptian emblems and large neon sign. The boutique hotel has 49 rooms, all equipped with an acoustic guitar, and more than 6,000 square feet of event space, including a 250-seat outdoor entertainment venue. The Egyptian Motor Hotel is also home to the first brick-and-mortar outlet of Chilte from "Chopped" chef Lawrence Smith, which started out as a food truck serving Mexican street fare.

California

Appellation-Healdsburg-California

Appellation Healdsburg
Opening: Late 2023
The result of a partnership between Four Seasons veteran Christopher Hunsberger and celebrity chef Charlie Palmer, Appellation Healdsburg will feature 108 rooms, 15,500 square feet of event space, two pools and a rooftop bar. Taking advantage of its location in Sonoma Wine Country, the hotel will host hands-on winemaking classes. In lieu of minibars, the property will provide in-room cocktail supplies.

Pendry-Newport-Beach

Opening: Summer
Formerly the Fashion Island Hotel, named for its proximity to the famed Orange County shopping destination, the latest addition to the Pendry Hotels and Resorts brand and the Preferred Hotels and Resorts portfolio will boast 295 rooms with harbor and bay views. Among the amenities are three dining outlets, a spa, an outdoor pool and sundeck, and 14,000 square feet of event space.

Benson-Hotel-Colorado

Benson Hotel and Faculty Club
Opening: Spring
Named after the former University of Colorado president Bruce Benson, the 106-room property will open this spring on UC’s Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. Included in the plans are a rose garden with outdoor seating, a bar and restaurant, and nearly 4,000 square feet of meeting space. The Faculty Club will be a private offering for medical, educational and research staff. 

Florida

Amrit-Ocean-Resort-Palm-Beach

Opening: April
Taking up more than seven acres of oceanfront on Palm Beach County’s Singer Island, Amrit Ocean Resort and Residences, a Preferred Hotels and Resorts property, is accepting reservations beginning April 10. With a focus on wellness, the 155-room resort will have a four-story wellness center featuring meditation gardens, tranquility pools, yoga classes and four farm-to-table dining options, including a restaurant by celebrity vegan chef Matthew Kenney. There will also be more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space.

 

Conrad-Orlando-Florida

Opening: Fall
Bordering Walt Disney World Resort, the 433-room Conrad Orlando will have plenty of amenities, such as a spa, a signature rooftop restaurant, a 20-acre tropical-beach complex and two 18-hole golf courses. For groups, the hotel will offer 40,000 square feet of meeting space.

Sunsuites-Charlotte-Harbor-Florida

A hotel within a hotel, Sunsuites will take up the Lotus and Iris towers of the Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor in the southwest Florida town. The 189 suites, which range from one to three bedrooms, include living and dining areas, a bar and kitchen, and a private balcony. Guests of Sunsuites will have access to all the amenities provided by the resort, such as seven on-site restaurants, priority tee times at the golf course and 60,000 square feet of event space.

On the north shore of Kauai, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay is now open. The property features 252 rooms, including 51 suites, and more than 29,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. Seven restaurants will serve farm-to-table cuisine sourced from the hotel’s on-site organic garden and neighboring farms.

St-Regis-Chicago

St. Regis Chicago
Opening: Spring
A welcome addition to the Windy City, the St. Regis Chicago on the Chicago River will offer views of the waterway, as well as Lake Michigan. The 191-room waterfront hotel will feature nearly 8,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 5,000-square-foot ballroom; there also will be an indoor pool and an outdoor sundeck.

The 147-room Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences will be the brand’s first mixed-use property in North America. Among the amenities will be the stylish Raffles Butler service, a three story sky lobby above Copley Square, six food-and-beverage outlets, a Raffles Spa, a rooftop garden terrace and lounge, and 16 distinct gathering spaces.

West-Hotel-Minneapolis

Opening: Late 2023
Salt Hotels is debuting its latest property this year in Minneapolis. The West Hotel will have 123 rooms, a signature restaurant by James Beard Award–winning chef Tim McKee and six event spaces totaling 6,500 square feet.

The newest combination hotel and contemporary art museum is coming to downtown St. Louis. Restoring a former YMCA building, the 21c Museum Hotel will have 173 guest rooms, 4,200 square feet of meeting space, a museum with more than 13,000 square feet of exhibit space, and a roster of cultural programming.

Fontainebleau-Las-Vegas

Fontainebleau Las Vegas
Opening: Late 2023
Expanding beyond the shores of Miami Beach, the Fontainebleau brand will land on the Las Vegas Strip late this year with 3,700 rooms. Expecting groups to gather often, the property will have 550,000 square feet of meeting space spread throughout 57 venues, including a 105,000-square-foot ballroom and a 90,000 square-foot theater.

Paying homage to the Harlem Renaissance era of the 1920s and '30s, the Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel is being built in the restored Victoria Theater, designed by architect Thomas W. Lamb in 1917. Plans for the property include 211 guest rooms and retail outlets. Meeting space details are to come.

The Rose City soon will welcome the 251-room luxury property, which will be within walking distance of the Pearl District’s eclectic eateries and shops. Several food-and-beverage options will be on-site, including a food hall on the ground floor, and an indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar on the 20th floor, with panoramic views of Portland and the Cascade Mountains. More than 13,000 square feet of meeting space will be available for groups.

Austin's newest hotel, the second Hyatt Centric property in the state, began accepting reservations in February. The 31-story, 246-room hotel features a restaurant by James Beard–finalist Steve McHugh, a fitness center with Peloton bikes and nearly 4,000 square feet of meeting space.

In partnership with the PGA of America and the city of Frisco, the Omni PGA Frisco Resort aims to be the home of modern golf. The $520 million property will open alongside the PGA of America’s new headquarters, with two 18-hole championship courses, a 10-hole short course, a putting green, a lounge by Topgolf and an entertainment district. The 500-room resort also will feature 10 ranch homes, 127,000 square feet of meeting space, three pools and a spa.

 

Morningstar-Buoy-Haus-Beach-Resort-St-Thomas

Morningstar Buoy Haus Beach Resort is slated to debut as part of a $425 million rebuild of Frenchman’s Reef on St. Thomas. Plans for the property include 94 rooms, 13,000 square feet of event space, an oceanfront infinity pool and beach butler service while guests lounge on Morningstar Beach, which will be shared with the Westin Beach Resort and Spa at Frenchman’s Reef. Guests of Morningstar Buoy Haus will have access to the amenities of the Westin – also scheduled for a spring opening – such as the pool deck and cabanas, restaurants, retail outlets and 72,000 square feet of additional meeting space.

Arlo-Hotel-Washington-DC

Opening this year in the nation’s capital, the 445-room Arlo Hotel will incorporate one of the oldest surviving residential buildings in the city, the Harrison Apartments, which were constructed in the 1880s. Annexed to the Harrison will be a 12-story addition with guest rooms, a signature restaurant and bar, a fitness center, and a bodega. Also in the plans is a rooftop pool and lounge, and a to-be-determined amount of meeting space.

Now accepting reservations for March 17 and beyond is this island getaway, the first in Aruba for Embassy Suites. The 330-room resort will offer fitness classes and al fresco dining. For groups, there will be 9,400 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space overlooking the turquoise Caribbean on Eagle Beach.

W-Hotel-Sydney

Australia’s third W Hotel is scheduled to debut this fall as part of the Ribbon, a mixed-use development that also will have an IMAX theater and retail outlets. The 585-room hotel will feature a rooftop bar and lounge, an outdoor pool, and nine meeting rooms for a total of nearly 11,000 square feet of event space.

Debuting soon on the renowned Ringstrasse Boulevard, the Almanac Palais Vienna will offer 111 rooms, nearly 9,000 square feet of meeting space, a signature restaurant, a coffee shop and a spa. The property will blend old and new, as the historical 1870s Palais Henckel von Donnersmarck is being adapted for the project.

Hilton-Santa-Marta-Colombia

In the first Spanish settlement in Colombia, the Hilton Santa Marta in Magdalena opened its doors on Jan. 5. The hotel features 261 rooms, more than 11,000 square feet of event space and views of the Caribbean Sea. Alma Rosa serves Colombian soul food, and sports bar Arenas welcomes guests on the pool deck. Visitors are able to explore nearby sites, such as the Parque de los Novios the Sierra Nevada mountains and Tayrona National Park — and bask in the sun in this coastal destination favored for incentives.

 

BoTree-Hotel-London

United Kingdom

The BoTree
Opening: July
Part of Preferred Hotels and Resorts’ Legend collection, the BoTree is scheduled to open this summer at the cross-section of Marylebone and Mayfair, two of the most central neighborhoods in London. In addition to 199 rooms, including 29 suites, the property will offer a rooftop restaurant and bar, private screening room and nearly 7,000 square feet of event space.
