Visit Orlando has teamed up with the Orange County Convention Center and the healthcare network Orlando Health to provide medical experts and resources to all groups that hold an event at the convention center in 2020.

The new medical concierge program is the latest effort to help restart the live events industry and safely bring meeting business back to the city of Orlando. Earlier this week, the Orange County Convention Center received GBAC Star accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council for its coronavirus cleaning and prevention efforts. Thus far, only five convention centers in the nation have been GBAC Star certified.

The medical concierge program is designed to provide personalized medical services and support to meeting groups. As part of the program, Visit Orlando will help connect event planners with personal protective equipment suppliers, providing offerings such as masks and hand sanitizer. Medical professionals will be available to answer any questions event professionals have during the planning process and can help review and improve their safety plan. Certified healthcare experts can also be consulted to create personalized videos, photos and written materials to educate attendees and create confidence in the event.

In addition, planners will have access to an onsite medical expert at the event and the availability of coronavirus testing for all attendees and staff. Attendees will also be able to get 24/7 medical help though Orlando Health's Virtual Visit program, which can connect guests directly to a physician through their phone, tablet or computer. Meanwhile, Orlando Health's Business Ready initiatives will help provide the event hotel, transportation vendors and other partners with clear guidance, videos and PDFs on best safety practices for COVID-19.

"Offering this pioneering medical concierge gives our conventions and trade shows a vast network of healthcare services and expertise that prioritizes the safety of our guests," said Mark Tester, executive director of the Orange County Convention Center. "This groundbreaking industry collaboration, coupled with our Recovery and Resiliency Guidelines and GBAC Star accreditation, elevates our rigorous protocols and is a testament of our commitment to keeping attendees healthy at the second largest convention center in North America."
