Visit Greenville, the official convention and visitors bureau representing Greenville-Pitt County in North Carolina, has appointed Rachel Whitten as its next president and CEO. Whitten currently serves as vice president of sales and services for Visit Greenville and its sports division, Play Greenville. She will step into the new leadership role effective June 15.

Outgoing president and CEO Andrew Schmidt announced his retirement in January after 32 years serving the Greenville-Pitt County tourism industry. His last day with the CVB will be June 30.

"Having spent the past 28 years living, working and building relationships throughout Pitt County, I have developed a deep appreciation for the people, organizations and businesses that make our community such a special place," said Whitten. "The present and future are bright for Greenville and Pitt County. I am excited to work alongside our partners across the community to build on our successes, seize new opportunities, and continue moving our destination forward together."
