Industry veteran Lisa Messina is leaving Las Vegas. Most recently chief sales officer for the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, she will join Visit Orlando, the convention and visitors bureau for the Florida city, in the same capacity, as of Aug. 19.

Messina's 30-year career in hospitality sales and marketing includes leadership positions at Caesars Entertainment, Hilton Worldwide and ConferenceDirect. At Visit Orlando, she will oversee departments including meetings and conventions sales, travel industry sales, membership and supporting services, and will report directly to president and CEO Casandra Matej.

Orlando's Convention Center expansion drives growth

Messina joins Visitor Orlando at a crucial time, as the Orange County Convention Center is poised to begin an expansion project to its North-South Building, allowing the city to accommodate larger groups. In addition, the bureau has expanded its global sales presence to 15 countries.

Matej praised Messina as "an industry powerhouse with an excellent reputation," citing her leadership skills, results-driven approach and industry passion as ideal for Visit Orlando's culture and goals.

Messina expressed excitement about joining Visit Orlando, noting the destination's leadership and constantly evolving offerings as key factors in her decision. “I look forward to getting to know the team, members and community partners who make this such a remarkable destination,” she said.
