Educational Session: "What You Said Isn’t Always What They Heard"

Presented by Jen Fry

Most people think conflict is caused by disagreement. But in reality? It’s usually caused by unclear communication. Especially in high-stakes environments like meetings and hospitality, where timelines are tight, a missed detail, a vague request or a tone that didn’t land right can set off sparks. This session will take an unflinching look at how even ""good"" communicators accidentally trigger conflict through their habits, assumptions and shortcuts.

Participants will come away:

  • Understanding how small lapses in clarity lead to big misunderstandings
  • Knowing why passive communication fuels conflict more than direct disagreement
  • Carrying tools to prevent, not just respond to, tension in communication
