The Northstar Meetings Group and Hawai'i Visitors & Convention Bureau will bring together buyers and sellers of meetings and events interactively and dynamically. "I MUA HAWAI'I = Forward Together," will bring Hawai'i into the offices of meeting & incentive buyers throughout the US.  It will focus on the new Hawai'i Blueprint—detailing protocols for the islands and their hospitality partners, establishing Hawai'i as a safe and healthy destination for future groups. Buyers will meet with hospitality partners to discuss future programs; 2021 and beyond. Hawai'i is ready to connect and partner with you!

Kainoa Daines is currently the Director of Culture & Product Development, a newly created role he filled in 2018. In this role, Kainoa oversees all Hawaiian cultural aspects within the Visitors Bureau, for HVCB Members and manages their Warrior Marker program, statewide.  Prior to the new role, he was the Director of Sales for the Oʻahu Visitors Bureau, a subsidiary and Island Chapter of the Hawaiʻi Visitors & Convention Bureau since 2011, covering both Leisure and MCI sales.

He is also currently Chair of the King Kamehameha Celebration Commission representing the Royal Order of Kamehameha and has voluntarily chaired the King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade since 2011.

John Reyes, Meet Hawaii’s Senior Vice President and Chief MCI Sales Officer, joined HVCB in Feberay 2020 his roll will be to supervise HVCB's global sales and marketing efforts for both citywide and single-property MCI business.  He brings more than 30 years of hospitality-industry experience to the position, most recently serving as chief operating officer of Visit Sacramento since 2017. He also previously served as chief sales officer and executive vice president in the convention sales and services division of the San Francisco Travel Association, formerly the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Reyes eared a bachelor's of Science, Buisoness Administration from San Francisco State University, College of Business and an MBA in Buisness from Champlain College.

Jeffery Eslinger, HVCB Senior Director Market Insights, joined HVCB in 2018 as senior director of market insights. As senior director, is responsible for analyzing trends impacting tourism in Hawaii as well as all HVCB programs that support marketing, MCI, trade and membership efforts.

Eslinger has 20 years of destination research and tourism marketing experience. Prior to joining HVCB, he served as senior director of client insights with DK Shifflet, a leading full-service research and strategic marketing firm and wholly-owned subsidiary of MMGY Global, the largest integrated travel marketing organization in the world. There, he managed numerous destination marketing clients including Hawaii, New York City, Visit Florida, Washington DC, Fort Lauderdale, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas as well as many others.  Prior to DK Shifflet, he was the manager, customer insights and research at US Airways and director, market research at Northstar Travel Media.

He has been involved in numerous professional affiliations including the Travel and Tourism Research Association, previously serving as president and chairman of the board. He currently serves on the Destinations International Convention Sales and Services Committee.

Eslinger earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Dayton.

Teri Orton, General Manager, Hawai‘i Convention Center, is responsible for the overall management of the Hawai‘i Convention Center, including sales and marketing, operations, finance, food and beverage, and customer service, while implementing the strategic positioning and marketing plans for the facility in conjunction with the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau, and the Meet Hawai‘i team.

She serves as a Board Member and Advisor on the Hawai‘i Visitors & Convention Center Bureau’s (HVCB) Board.

Orton majored in communications at the University of Hawai‘i and advanced her training in hospitality management through various certifications with Starwood and Hilton Hotels.

Makana

Born and raised in Hawai'i, Makana is an internationally acclaimed slack key guitarist, singer, composer and one of Hawaii's cultural ambassadors to the world.  He is considered the youngest authority on his art form, which began at age 11 studying under Hawaiian slack key guitar legend Sonny Chillingworth.  National Geographic says he is "Charting a new sonic frontier with deep ties to tradition." Makana has toured nationwide opening for Jason Mraz, and has also opened for Santana, Sting, John Legend and No Doubt just to name a few.  


He is captivating, mesmerizing, passionate and soul-piercing. And according to Esquire Magazine, he is "the greatest living player" in regards to the slack key guitar.
