Canadian COVID-19 Requirements 

Due to current Canadian border admission policies, only fully vaccinated visitors are allowed to attend events like the Global Incentive Summit in Canada.  This is a change that took effect on September 16th. Quarantining prior to the event is no longer an option.  Thus, all attendees for the GIS must be fully vaccinated by one of the accepted vaccines prior to October 3, 2021, and submit a negative PCR test within 72 hours of their arriving flight into Canada.

  • AstraZeneca/COVIDSHIELD
  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson

For Clarity: Proof of full vaccination prior to October 3rd AND a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to arrival travel to Canada is required to participate at GIS.

Photographer

John E. Marriott is one of Canada’s premier professional wildlife photographers, with a career spanning two decades and images published worldwide by National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Canadian Geographic, McLean's, and Reader’s Digest. He is an Associate Fellow with the International League of Conservation Photographers, a Canon Ambassador, a Fjällräven Guide, and the co-founder of the EXPOSED Wildlife Conservancy.

John has produced seven coffee table books, including What Bears Teach Us (2020), Tall Tales, Long Lenses: My Adventures in Photography (2017), The Pipestone Wolves: The Rise and Fall of a Wolf Family (2016), and the international bestseller, Banff & Lake Louise: Images of Banff National Park (2007). His upcoming book, The Kootenay Wolves: Five Years Following a Wild Wolf Pack, will be published this year.

John, who lives in Canmore, Alberta, with his wife and son, prides himself on being a conservation photographer known for photographing wilderness scenes and wild, free-roaming animals in their natural habitats.

As a life-long champion of the travel industry who grew up in the attic of her parent’s hotel, Pearleen has spent her career delivering exceptional destination experiences and forging long-lasting business relationships with her clients around the world. Starting out her career in crisis communications, then she led the first virtual agency in Nova Scotia for over 15 years. She has launched new airline routes for over a dozen airlines with events in North America and Europe. She is credited with staging the first pop-up dining festival in North America, before pop-up was a thing.

For seven years, Pearleen designed and delivered one-of-a-kind, authentic and culturally specific meeting and incentive programs for visitors from around the world, while leading the largest DMC in Atlantic Canada. She is known for her creative thinking and her 'think big’ philosophy that’s resulted in doing things that have never been done before.

Currently, she is the sales director at Fox Harb’r Resort in Nova Scotia and serves as president of SITE Canada.

Corporate inSITEs, the SITE Foundation’s study of corporate professionals who are involved in the approval, oversight, design, planning, execution or delivery of incentive travel programs, was launched in April 2021 and conducted again in September 2021. During this session, SITE Canada president Pearleen Mofford will deliver highlights of the most recent research and how they compare with those uncovered in the previous study. Among the findings she’ll discuss: 

  • Is optimism about incentive travel’s rebound as strong as it was in spring 2021?
  • How are corporations operating programs while adhering to health and safety protocols?
  • Are corporations mandating vaccinations for incentive qualifiers?
  • What changes are being made to the design of incentive travel program in light of the pandemic?
  • What is the attitude of the C-suite toward the resumption of incentive travel programs?
  • What are the considerations and criteria for selecting a destination now?
