Event Professionals Meet Digitally at Northstar's Interact Event Series

The virtual events will join top-qualified buyers and suppliers together for appointments, networking and conversation.

Northstar Meetings Group won't let the fact that we might not be able to meet face-to-face stop us from gathering together. We believe that, if there's a way to meet during this time, we should. And so we created the Interact Summer Series Digital Events.

Already in full-swing, Northstar Interact is comprised of six digital events taking place June through August. Each event is destination specific and provides a space for top-qualified buyers and sellers of the meetings industry to come together for one-to-one and one-to-many meetings, networking, industry education and product and service demonstrations. The series lineup includes the following events: 

  • Interact Last Vegas - June 30, 2020
  • Interact Independent Planners - July 14, 2020
  • Interact Small Meetings & Unique Venues - July 21, 2020
  • Interact The New CVB - August 4, 2020
  • Interact Beach Destinations & Resorts - August 11, 2020
  • Interact International - August 18, 2020

Interact: What to Expect

Interact Last Vegas took place at the end of June and attracted more than 30 pre-qualified meeting planners who are looking to book future business in the major meetings city. The half-day event began with networking within Interact's digital platform. Buyer and supplier attendees had the freedom to move between ballroom tables, networking rooms and general spaces, connecting via video streaming and/or chat with the event professionals who were also present in the same area of the platform. 

Chris Meyer, vice president, global sales, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, addressed all Interact Las Vegas participants during a welcome reception. Meyer spoke about the reopening of events in Las Vegas — what the city is up to now; how people are traveling to and from the area; new protocols and health, hygiene and safety practices being observed by hotels on The Strip and beyond; and more. During his presentation, attendees were able to use chat capabilities to ask specific questions and get the answers that they wanted to know. 

The agenda also featured a moderated panel discussion with Lisa Messina, vice president of sales, Caesars Entertainment Corporation, and Brett Sterenson, president, Hotel Lobbyists. Attendees, again, were able to interact with the speakers and ask specific questions during the presentation. One-on-one appointments took place throughout the afternoon during two different sessions. Planners and Vegas suppliers met for five-minute appointment sessions that were booked and organized prior to the event taking place. 

The upcoming Northstar Interact events will feature the same cutting-edge connections, conversations, opportunities and technology that attendees experienced at Interact Las Vegas. With buyers for every upcoming event nearly at capacity, top event professionals are sure to get connected with their ideal clients during the interact series. 

Digital Connection 

Each event will be conducted on our custom designed, interactive digital platform that, as detailed above, features live videocasting, networking chatrooms, sponsor branding opportunities, general messaging features, instant polling and beyond. Northstar understands the value of coming together for our industry and we spared no expense in making sure our meeting planner community would be able to do so easily at our Interact events.

Our Planner PULSE Survey — which has been tracking meeting planners' ongoing experience with COVID-19 as it relates to their business — has also shown that ever since the COVID-19 crisis began, planners have experienced difficulties connecting with suppliers. The various opportunities provided by the Interact events meets that need. Attendees at Interact Las Vegas were thrilled to see each other again and meet new contacts, even though it was by video. The Interact series is a terrific way for planners to stay informed and connected with suppliers and each other — and to plan for their future business.

Creating Opportunities

Suppliers that participate in any of the Northstar Interact series events not only get to take advantage of meetings, they will also receive a contact list of all planner attendees after the fact. Interact sponsorship opportunities include destination experience breaks, education presentations, registration sponsorship, lounge area branding and video, happy hour/cooking demonstrations, and gifting in coordination with the event, customized to the sponsor's unique value proposition.
