Opening Remarks & Education: The Secrets to Hybrid Success

Presenter: Heather Mason

More Detail

After more than a year of hibernation from live, the events industry is back. But it's different now, requiring new skills and new collaborations. Marketing and events departments are more tightly linked than ever — and even if that isn't the case with your job, a marketing-like approach can help inform your strategy. Events are now often being seen as year-round campaigns with multiple hybrid touchpoints, rather than solo entities. But do not fear: All of this is actually great news for event professionals!
In this lively session, we'll discuss:
• The use of "Event Horizon" models and how they can complement a company's marketing efforts, particularly around hybrid strategy;
• The 10+ types of hybrid events and how all of them can add to the bottom line;
• How using marketing methods or working more closely with marketing teams can increase the value to our stakeholders — and the value of our careers.

Breakfast & Education: Workshopping a Crisis: How Prepared Are You for the Never Normal?
Presenter: Brenda Rivers
More Detail

Sponsored by the Greater Ontario California CVB

In the military, they call it "wargaming" — simulating warfare or other crisis scenarios in order to hone strategic thinking and better prepare the officers and troops for the real thing. How often are you wargaming with your team? The current state of our industry might be dubbed the "never normal”: From the pandemic to catastrophic weather events to terrorist threats, we are seemingly always facing the prospect of disruptive activity.
In this session, Brenda Rivers, president of SAFE LLC, will underscore the value of crisis simulations by demonstrating how it's done. And she'll break down the components of a health and safety risk mitigation plan and explain why all industry representatives have a role in ensuring its success.
Participants will learn:

  • How to implement crisis simulations among their teams
  • The top critical steps in a health and safety risk-mitigation plan
  • How to collaborate with all stakeholders in implementing a successful plan
  • Common legal missteps to avoid
