Transportation in & Around the Area

New & Coming Soon to Savannah

  • Visit Savannah has launched a new meeting planner guide.
  • Alongside Forsyth Park in the heart of the city, the new 149-room Hotel Bardo Savannah has a host of inviting amenities, including a cozy courtyard, a beautiful outdoor pool with a bar and cabanas, the luxurious Saltgrass Spa and a rooftop bar with stunning views of the city. The hotel's meeting space comprises a grand total 10,000 square feet, encompassing 13 individual meeting rooms along with a spacious 3,500-square-foot ballroom. Tucked inside the Hotel Bardo, Saint Bibiana is a coastal Italian restaurant presided over by noted executive chef Derek Simcik. The eatery also runs a cooking school complete with hands-on classes, salon dinners and guest chefs.
  • Set to open in late summer 2024 is the 170-room AC Hotel Savannah Historic District. The hotel has a rooftop restaurant and bar, a large fitness center and over 4,000 square feet of flexible meeting space that includes the Wilmington Ballroom, able to host up to 210 attendees.
  • A new Ritz-Carlton hotel will begin construction in mid-2024, with its opening slated for early 2026. Plans call for just over 100 guest rooms, a ground-floor restaurant and bar, and meeting and event space. The property will be in a 15-story landmark building, formerly the Savannah Bank and Trust, built in 1915.
  • There’s always something new to enjoy at District Live at the Plant Riverside District, with over a dozen dining choices that include a steakhouse, a biergarten, seafood, pizza and BBQ; a riverside live music venue, a rooftop garden, a boardwalk and more.
  • The elegant 193-room Thompson Savannah opened in July 2021 along the Savannah River, where the city’s Historic District meets the Eastern Wharf. The property features easy access to a charming riverfront promenade along with signature restaurant Fleeting; a pool deck with private cabanas; a rooftop bar, complimentary guest bicycles and more than 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.

More Event Venues

  • Sports, dining, concerts and all manner of special events take place in the new 9,500-seat Enmarket Arena, which has 13 luxury suites, five loge boxes and a party suite. The facility is the official home of the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL hockey league, who are affiliated with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers.
  • The Morris Center at Trustees’ Garden hosts events in its beautifully appointed 3,600-square-foot main ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 seated guests. Trustees’ Garden also features the Kehoe Iron Works complex, a late-19th century landmark that includes the 8,000-square-foot Metal Building with its attached 2,000-square-foot annex.
  • Old Fort Jackson, which sits on the picturesque Savannah River, is Georgia's oldest brick fortification. The venue can accomodate private group events for 50-450 attendees. 
  • Savannah Riverboat Cruise offer cruises that sail past myriad historic sites along the Savannah River. Up to 1,000 guests can be accommodated for private events.

Things to Do in Savannah

  • Attendees can learn both the history of crafted spirits and the attempt to ban them in the American Prohibition Museum, where 6,000 square feet encompass 13 galleries of exhibits, a functioning (and fully stocked) speakeasy, a theater and more.
  • The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force preserves and displays the remarkable history of a storied squadron that, over the course of World War II, grew from a single aircraft to an armada of more than 2,000 heavy bombers and 1,000 fighter planes that helped pave the way for the D-Day invasion. The museum's collection showcases more than 12,000 artifacts, including 80 vintage hand-painted leather flight jackets, along with more than 500 artworks, many done by Eighth Air Force veterans.
  • Modern art and architecture are the stars at the Jepson Center, where recent exhibits have included s survey of birds in art, the work of photographer Frank Stewart and the beautiful glassware collected by wealthy local residents in the 19th century. The center also offers group rentals for its expansive three-story atrium and outdoor sculpture terraces.
  • A historical hub of commerce, artistic expression and community interaction, the vibrant Savannah City Market comprises four blocks of restaurants, bars, shops and artist studios. After dining and perusing, visitors can gather at the main City Market pavilion to embark on a trolley journey to the riverfront and other nearby historic sites.
  • Originally laid out with 24 graceful, grassy squares, Savannah still sports 22 of these beautiful spots, including Taylor Square, designed in 1851 and still surrounded by all of its original buildings; Chatham Square, opened in 1847 and named in honor of William Pitt, an early supporter of the colony of Georgia; and Chippewa Square, which dates from 1815 and sports a statue of the colony’s founder, General James Edward Oglethorpe.
  • Savannah’s many rooftop bars and restaurants are great places to socialize, sip and snack while looking out over the city. Some prime perches include the Top Deck Bar atop the Cotton Sail Hotel in downtown, overlooking the Savannah River; Bar Julian at the Thompson Savannah, with its views of both river and skyline, and Peregrin.
  • Sea Kayak Georgia offers scenic half-day tours of Tybee Island and Little Tybee Island, with their gorgeous homes, creeks, beaches and wildlife. Both beginners and experience paddlers are accommodated.
  • Golf lovers will find a huge selection of public and private courses with unique backdrops for players of all skill levels. Highlights include The Club at Savannah Harbor, nestled between the banks of the Savannah and Back rivers, with 18 challenging holes designed by Sam Snead and Bob Cupp, and the Crosswinds Golf Club, a unique 72-par layout  that includes five par-5 and three par-3 holes spread among undulated TifEagle greens and well-bunkered Bermuda fairways.
