Members of the global business events community attend IMEX America for many reasons, and the educational opportunities are among the most popular components. After all, the more you know, the more you can finesse your professional skills and take your career and business to the next level.

IMEX America’s professional education program consists of four days of expert education, all of which is free for attendees. First up is Smart Monday powered by MPI, a noteworthy opportunity for event professionals to invest in professional development and network with peers on October 7, before the show opens. In addition, the MPI booth, in the exhibit hall, features an extensive education area that will host hours of educational opportunities — four to five sessions every day, with a focus on engagement and actionable takeaways.

And that’s not all. Throughout the course of this year’s IMEX America, attendees can partake in more than 150 education sessions across seven tracks:
• Trends & Research
• Impact
• Business Practices
• Experience Design
• Event Marketing
• Technology & Innovation
• Well-being

IMEX America’s education program allows attendees to do a deep dive into the industry’s latest topics and trends as they level up their professional skills and find fresh ideas for addressing today’s industry challenges.

Industry Accreditation

Also worth noting is the fact that education at IMEX can help attendees secure industry accreditation. This year’s IMEX America is offering ICCASkills accredited sessions, such as Certified International Convention Specialist (CICS) and Certified International Convention Executive (CICE) by ICCASkills.

In addition, IMEX is a Preferred Provider by the Events Industry Council (EIC), and the majority of IMEX education sessions qualify for Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) continuing education credit. Participating attendees simply need to keep a log of the sessions they attend and how many clock hours they want to claim. After IMEX has finished, they can self-certify their attendance in the EIC portal to claim their clock hours, which can also be used for recertification.

Several IMEX America education sessions at IMEX are also Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) Approved, and first-time applicants to the certification can use what they’ve learned during the education program to prepare for the exam. Unlike with credit-based accreditations, it’s not necessary to report or verify attendance. By attending CSEP Approved IMEX sessions, participants can continue their professional education, prepare for accreditation or contribute to recertification.
