Marc Anderson, president and CEO of Visit San Antonio, has chosen not to renew his contract, leaving the convention and visitors bureau as of April 25. As the CVB's leader for four years, Anderson was instrumental in helping the city through its post-pandemic recovery.
Until a new leader is found, Mario Bass, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, has been named interim president and CEO for the organization. Bass has been with the CVB since last July, but spent five years with the organization from 2017 to 2023 as its chief sales officer.
A statement from the CVB says, "Marc has made the decision to not renew his contract. It was mutually agreed between Marc and the executive committee of the VSA board for his last day to be April 25, 2025, so Visit San Antonio can focus on beginning the search for our next leader."
The nationwide search for a new president and CEO will begin immediately.
The city's hospitality industry provides more than $21.5 billion in annual economic impact and employs 1 in 8 San Antonians.
