Northstar's second Small & Boutique Meetings event of 2026 took place in the intimate setting of Annapolis, Md., at the Historic Inns of Annapolis on State Circle surrounding the Maryland Statehouse. The hosted-buyer gathering for planners booking meetings for 100 room nights or fewer on peak took place July 8-10, and the last two are scheduled for Point Clear, Ala., Aug. 5-7, and San Antonio, Oct. 26-28.
We got off to a patriotic start in Annapolis just after the 250th anniversary of the country, with a reading of the Declaration of Independence on the statehouse lawn, followed by a red, white and blue reception, sponsored by our host property. The town crier got the evening event started with style, and attendees could visit two caricaturists to have their portraits drawn.
Singular sessions
In a twist for the education on the second day, lunch at the Rams Head On Stage featured the musical and motivational stylings of Cameron Atlas, speaking on embracing what's possible. He also created a fun opportunity for destinations around Maryland to showcase their offerings — accompanied by an original song that had the audience singing the chorus.
Following breakfast the next day at the Graduate Hotel by Hilton – Annapolis, Jen Fry got participants out of their seats talk to each other about how they handle conflict and how resolutions can be found more easily and kindly.
Seeing the sights
Participants were treated to the option of sailing on the Schooner Woodwind, going kayaking with Capital SUP, heading out on a scenic Severn River cruise with Watermark or visiting the Great Frogs Winery. A wonderful dinner reception at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel followed with the Eric Scott Trio providing top-notch tunes. A gorgeous rainbow crowned the evening.
Thank you again to our generous sponsors for helping us put on such a successful event: Historic Inns of Annapolis; Visit Annapolis and Anne Arundel County; the Opal Collection; Meet in Maryland; the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel; New York State Destination Marketing Organizations; Graduate by Hilton – Annapolis; PC Nametag; and Madison Avenue.
