Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is ready for groups, and it has news to share. In this video interview, Julie Stow, executive director of Hello Cedar Rapids, shares why now is a great time to bring a meeting to the city.
Stow also announces that Cedar Rapids will host Northstar’s Small & Boutique Meetings event next year, giving planners a firsthand look at the city’s Midwestern hospitality. She also shares news of a new property opening and explains how the walkable downtown gives groups a close-knit, community feel.
Looking for venue ideas? Stow describes how groups have used the historic Paramount Theatre, which started out as a silent-movie house, to give their events a cinematic touch. For attendees who arrive early or stay late, she points to nature preserves and hiking trails, the city’s Czech immigrant heritage, local restaurants and an authentic Iowa farm experience.
