Meetings Mean Business Coalition Names Fred Dixon as New Co-Chair

He brings nearly 30 years of travel industry experience to the position.

Fred Dixon, president and CEO, NYC & Company

The Meetings Mean Business Coalition, dedicated to highlighting the value that business meetings, travel and events bring to the American economy, has appointed Fred Dixon as its new co-chair. Dixon joins MMBC with nearly 30 years of travel industry experience and currently serves as the president and CEO of New York City's convention and visitors bureau, NYC & Company.

Dixon will begin his term on Jan. 2, 2020, alongside Trina Camacho-London, VP of global group sales at Hyatt Hotels Corp., who was appointed last year. Together, the co-chairs plan to increase MMBC's advocacy efforts and grow the international presence of Global Meetings Industry Day, which will be held on April 14, 2020.

The second CEO of a CVB to lead the coalition, Dixon replaces Julie Coker Graham, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau. Coker Graham will continue to serve on MMBC's Executive Committee.

"Meetings generate incredible value for businesses and communities while contributing meaningfully to the U.S. economy," Dixon said in a statement. "In my new role as Meetings Mean Business co-chair, I’m pleased to elevate the importance of this crucial industry segment while also spotlighting New York City’s prowess as one of the leading U.S. destinations for meetings and conventions."
