An Inclusive Sports Haven

It was a simple yet unprecedented idea: a sports bar that featured only women’s sports. Portland chef Jenny Nguyen created The Sports Bra because it was a place she had wanted her entire life, an inclusive space where women athletes are celebrated.

Additionally, professional women’s basketball will return to the Rose City for the first time in more than two decades after the WNBA awarded Portland an expansion team, The Portland Fire, that will begin play in 2026.

An Abundance of Activities Awaits

Look across the water at any given moment and you’re bound to see a hearty mix of kayakers, canoers and stand-up paddleboarders (SUP’ers).
With the Willamette River at the center of the city, you’re never far from a beach or boat launch. And getting outfitted to hit the water is nearly as easy as finding it. Less than a mile from its shore in Portland’s Central Eastside, Next Adventure rents SUP and kayak vessels and gear. On the river’s west side, Gorge Performance rents a variety of paddleboards and surfboards by the hour.

With almost 400 miles (650 km) of bikeways woven throughout the city, Portland is consistently listed as one of the most bike-friendly cities in America. Portland’s bikeways are made up of bike paths, designated bike lanes and neighborhood “greenways” where bicycles and pedestrians are given priority over cars. In just a few minutes, cyclists can go from riding beneath a canopy of trees in one of several neighborhoods to biking along the Eastbank Esplanade and watching the sun set over the Willamette River.
Want a guide to help you hit the bike lanes? Portland offers plenty of bike tours to let you see the city like a local.

The Overlook Trail at Hoyt Arboretum is an ADA-accessible hiking trail within Washington Park. This paved, mile-long (1.6 km) trail slopes and bends through open fields that give way to stunning views of the arboretum’s natural bounty and Portland’s West Hills. With more than 2,000 tree and shrub species, this “living museum of trees” offers something new every season, including incredible fall foliage.

A Foodie Paradise

With well over 500 food carts, no other city on Earth does street food quite like Portland. The city is known for its unique system of organizing food trucks and carts into “pods”: permanent collections of trucks and carts, often with seating and other amenities, allowing diners to explore a variety of offerings in a single location. Check out our Food Cart Finder to see what’s near you.

Indulge in Decadence

One such culinary destination is JinJu Patisserie where locals have loved the exceptional desserts on offer since 2019, when the bakery opened on North Williams Avenue. JinJu, helmed by Kyurim “Q” Lee and Jin Caldwell, took home the 2025 James Beard Award for Outstanding Bakery. The well-deserved honor celebrates tempting offerings like delectable bonbons, delicate croissants and savory tarts. See previous James Beard Award winners in Portland.

Uncork Relaxation

While a jaunt through beautiful Willamette Valley wine country – just 30 minutes outside of Portland – is always recommended, an influx of urban wineries is letting Portlanders visit tasting rooms and meet winemakers without ever leaving city limits. The city’s oldest winery, Hip Chicks do Wine, opened in 1999, and more than a dozen wineries have since followed suit.

Attendees who love great food, standout wines, and a vibrant sports culture will feel right at home in Portland.
