Northstar Meetings Group's Incentive magazine team is in Chicago this week for Incentive Live, the premier event for elite buyers looking to book global incentive travel programs.
Incentive Live 2019 has been offering attendees a compelling agenda. In addition to one-to-one appointments with top incentive destinations, hotels/resorts, cruise lines, DMCs, DMOs, brand-name merchandise, gift cards and tourism offices, Incentive Live is bringing leading industry experts front and center.
Among new features this year, the annual Incentive Industry Roundtable took place live on stage, as panelists engaged in a lively discussion about the current and future states of the incentive marketplace. A new, interactive "Ask the Experts" experience also put industry professionals at attendees' disposal for one-on-one advice.
Among presenters, bestselling author David Meerman Scott addressed the changing rules of marketing, and Maritz Motivation Solutions’ Jesse Wolfersberger delved into the capabilities of artificial intelligence for incentive programs.
We're still in the Windy City, and we're giving you a glimpse into all the incentive action going on here!
1. Incentive Live Kicks Off in Chicago
Incentive Live officially kicked off in Chicago on Sunday and events got right underway. Here, attendees enjoyed cocktails and conversation while rubbing elbows with top incentive industry pros.
2. Talking AI With Jesse Wolfersberg
Artificial intelligence is transforming the world in ways we never imagined. From predictive analyses of participant behavior and award selection to helping understand and respond to individuals’ preferences before, during and after an incentive trip, we are just beginning to tap into the incentive potential of AI.
Jesse Wolfersberger, chief data officer for Maritz Motivation Solutions, addressed the crowd on the merging the fields of behavioral science and artificial intelligence, helping brands make data-driven decisions through analytics, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
3. Getting Warm in the Windy City
Florida's Paradise Coast definitely had to trade warm weather when traveling north to Chicago for Incentive Live, but it looks like the tradeoff was well worth the experience!
4. A Roundtable of Incentive Superstars
For the first time, the Annual Incentive Roundtable took place live onstage. Participants discussed multiple topics pertinent to the incentive industry, and also interacted heavily with the crowd.
5. Information Overload (...in a Good Way!)

6. Action Shot from our Keynote Speaker
David Meerman Scott delivered an intimate look at the powerful energy of fandom, and what can happen when we shift from a product-centric to a relationship-centric mode of business.
Why is the power of physical proximity, something that is impossible online, the key to building passion? What can neuroscience tell us about the selfie phenomenon? And why is it important for organizations to give up control of their ideas to ensure that they thrive? These ideas and more were addressed, along with the message that when we’re exposed to like-minded people who share our interests, we more successfully push each other, our teams and our communities to greater heights.
7. A Toast to the Motivation Masters Winners
This year's Motivation Masters award winners were announced at Incentive Live. Organized each year by Incentive, the B2B brand focuses solely on employee motivation and engagement.
The awards honored four category winners in the areas of sales, channel sales, recognition and loyalty, as well as the Grand Motivation Master award that celebrates outstanding overall achievement.
8. Making Essential Connections Across Industries
Fifty meetings with qualified planners?! Incentive Live sure brings together those who need to meet and be met.
9. Talking Legal Issues with Jonathan Howe
President and senior founding partner of Howe & Hutton Ltd., Jonathan addressed the crowd on legal issues facing the incentive industry, stating "Every time you amend a contract, there is a ripple effect."
Aside from his expertise, Howe is also general counsel to Meeting Professionals International, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Association Committee of 100, the Sports & Fitness Industry Association and the International Live Events Association, and special advisor to the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Meetings and Travel.
