Incentive and IMA Team Up for Sports-Event Incentives

The Rewards and Recognition Roundtable will bring brand name incentive awards to the upcoming TEAMS Conference & Expo

Incentive will join the Incentive Marketing Association (IMA) in presenting the Rewards and Recognition Roundtable at TEAMS Conference & Expo this fall, a first for the leading sports-event industry trade show.

The goal of the Roundtable, taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at TEAMS '17 in Orlando, FL, is to help educate sports-event organizers and host cities about the ways they can create non-cash incentive programs that use brand-name merchandise and gift card rewards to effectively motivate, recognize, and engage participants.

The Roundtable will be introduced by Leo Jakobson, executive editor of Incentive, and moderated by Richard Low, CPIM, vice-president of special markets for Citizen Watch Company of America and a past president of the IMA.

"The IMA champions the use of incentives and emphasizes the power of using recognized brands in rewards and recognition programs," Low said. "The TEAMS Conference & Expo and this Rewards and Recognition Roundtable will allow merchandise and gift card companies to connect with the sports-event industry in a way we've never done before."

Noting that many of the event organizer and host cities that attend TEAMS are familiar with the use of promotional products and trophy-style awards, Timothy Schneider, founder and chairman of the Sports Division of Northstar Travel Group, said "this session will allow them to better understand the value of involving major brands in their efforts to motivate, recognize, and reward superior performance by all of the key stakeholders in their organizations."

Both Incentive and the IMA see the Roundtable as "win-win opportunity for the reward and recognition industry and the sports and other organizations attending TEAMS '17 to educate each other on the many ways they can work together to expand efforts to encourage, recognize and reward achievement," said Jakobson. "We believe the Rewards and Recognition Roundtable will help expand the sports-event segment of the incentive marketplace for years to come."

The Rewards and Recognition Roundtable will take place just prior to the opening of TEAMS '17, and is open to event organizers, exhibitors and sponsors at no additional charge. It is "an exciting addition to the TEAMS Conference program," Schneider added. "This is yet another example of programming at TEAMS that is simply not available at any other sports-industry conference." (Northstar Travel Group is the publisher of Incentive as well as the producer of TEAMS Conference & Expo.)

In addition to the Roundtable, TEAMS '17 will include a new exhibition area called the Gifting and Rewards Zone, where sports-event organizers and hosts will be able to meet with brand-name merchandise and gift card providers able to offer expertise in the creation and management of successful incentive and recognition programs.
