Hyatt Hotels announced plans to open a StandardX property in New York's iconic Times Square. The 1,800-room hotel is expected to debut in the second half of 2028 with 14,000 square feet of meeting space.
The property will be part of the StandardX brand, a younger offshoot of the Standard hotels portfolio. It will feature a rooftop pool, an observation deck at 1,000 feet, and an enclosed, free-fall thrill ride. A collection of restaurants and bars also is in the plans, with details to be announced closer to the hotel's opening date.
In the city center
The StandardX Times Square, at 255 West 45th Street, will be a five-minute walk away from the Port Authority Bus Terminal and a 15-minute walk from Penn Station. It will be 1 mile from the Javits Center.
"The Standard brand has always been about being part of the city," said Amar Lalvani, Hyatt's chief creative officer, and the president and creative director for the Lifestyle Group at Hyatt. “With StandardX hotels, we've taken that same idea and made it simpler and more accessible. Usually, that means putting people in the middle of an interesting neighborhood, with everything happening right outside the door. In Times Square, it's energetic, theatrical and completely over the top. We want to embrace that, have some fun with it and create something that could only happen in New York.”
Other hotels opening soon
