The only Forbes Five-Star luxury resort in Central and South America is now even more sumptuous thanks to a $35 million renovation, the property, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, announced yesterday.
Located on Costa Rica's north Pacific coast, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica offers 182 guest rooms, suites, and villas, each of which has been updated and reimagined with a local design and aesthetic. Each accommodation includes new furnishings -- including local artisan pieces -- while select suites have been outfitted with new private plunge pools.
Also redesigned was the resort's lobby, which features an open-air gathering space, an updated retail area, and a collection of local and regional art by artists from Costa Rica and elsewhere in Latin America.
Finally, the resort boasts an upgraded pool area with new luxury cabanas and four new culinary concepts serving locally sourced cuisine in redesigned spaces: Bahia, a Latin American restaurant with a wood-fired open kitchen; Pesce, offering an Italian take on seafood; Anejo, which is a grab-and-go breakfast spot in the morning and a tapas bar at night; and La Reserva, which is a Discovery Center during the day and a bar specializing in premium rum cocktails in the evening.
"We are thrilled to welcome travelers from around the world to our contemporary new take on tropical luxury," said General Manager Michael Mestraud. "With unique Costa Rican warmth and evocative design, our new resort experience is an unmatched haven for going off the grid or embarking on adventures of a lifetime."
