Yet another Puerto Rico hotel has unveiled a major transformation: The 525-room San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, which was damaged by Hurricane Maria in 2017 but remained open for relief workers, has taken the wraps off of a $20 million renovation. The project included roughly one-quarter of its guest rooms, its main restaurant, all public areas and the on-site Ocean Club Spa & Wellness Center.
The renovation included the overhaul of all 123 oceanfront guest rooms and suites in the hotel's Cabana Tower. These rooms now feature a blend of resort chic and local island flair with warm tones, new bedding and furniture, generous workspaces and wireless charging lamps for smart devices.
Also getting a refresh were two of the resort's four dining options - the signature restaurant Gingambo, and the coffee and espresso bar La Panaderia, which serves locally sourced Puerto Rican coffee, pastries and grab-and-go food.
The resort has a total of 10,500 square feet of meeting space divided among eight meeting rooms that all told can accommodate up to 1,030 people.
