Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino to Undergo Major Renovation

Two-phase project will upgrade guest rooms, public areas, the casino and more.

The 237-room Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino on the Dutch island of  Curaçao will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a U.S.-multimillion-dollar, eight-month-long makeover of its guest rooms, public areas, function space and casino.

"We want to reflect the natural beauty of Curaçao with a calming and relaxing atmosphere," said general manager Maylin Trenidad of the project, which is scheduled to begin April 1 and be completed by year's end. "Our guests will notice a sleeker, more modern design that also stays true to our Curaçao roots and reflects the Renaissance brand."

The resort's Nautilus restaurant, lobby area, and casino will be targeted in the first phase of the project, which is being led by New York City-based hospitality design firm Dash Design, responsible for recent makeovers of the Hotel Commonwealth in Boston and the Lexington Hotel in New York City. This work is scheduled to be finalized by August.

Phase two, to be wrapped up by the end of December, includes a new lobby concept, "Luxe Cocoon," which will provide an intimate and immersive environment; a new entrance for the resort's 1,500-square-foot Carnival casino, and a complete upgrade of all guest rooms that will include local ceramics and a vibrant palette of colors.
