Tango Card Acquires GiftCertificates.com

The parties hope the purchase will allow them to serve clients better in the evolving digital-gift-card sector.

E-gift and prepaid card company Tango Card has acquired GiftCertificates.com and GC Incentives. According to Tango Card CEO and founder David Leeds, the merger will give current GiftCertificates.com customers accelerated delivery times, expanded digital gift card capabilities, and improved application performing interface and self-serve ordering. 

In an interview with Incentive, Leeds said "The combined company will continue to deliver best in industry customer service and support." He also stated that GC's key leaders will remain with the company. 

"With this acquisition Tango Card is adding a passionate and experienced team and a mature portfolio of customers and merchant relationships," added Tango Card's chief commercial officer Nat Salvione, calling GC, "one of the most respected gift card companies in the U.S. for over two decades."

The move continues the growth of Seattle-based Tango Card, which also has offices in Boise, Idaho, and Omaha, Neb., and currently has more than 3,000 customers and 130 employees.

"We will continue our unequaled focus on enterprise customers, brand partners, easy to use ordering methods, and incredible customer support all of which have been critical to our success in the incentive industry," said Leeds.

Salvione emphasized that the acquisition allows Tango to better leverage evolving opportunities around gift cards and the digital space, including the wide range of new applications into which they are being integrated.
