Sustainability makes good business sense—helping to reduce overall costs, improve an organization’s reputation and of course, benefit the environment. Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center

The
Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center operates in a sustainable manner while partnering with and enriching the local Boston community. Since its opening, the hotel has encouraged guests to participate in its environmentally friendly activities, and these initiatives have only expanded. This year, Seaport recycled 3.83 tons of electronic waste and completed an LED lighting upgrade resulting in 250,000 KWH of electricity savings annually. Seaport recognizes that social responsibility means collaborating with other organizations to ensure their success.

AT&T Hotel and Conference Center's commitment to sustainability starts from its inception. It was built to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Gold certification standards. The hotel and conference center boast multiple sustainable and eco-friendly features, including a green room program for towel and sheet exchange, smart thermostats, energy-efficient lighting and extensive focus on recycling and composting. A focus on sustainability has helped the hotel and conference center maintain a rate of 75 percent waste diversion from the landfill.

Hyatt Regency Denver

At Hyatt Regency Denver, with over 35 conservation initiatives in place and diligently followed, the effort does not stop there. There is a real focus to continue to see growth in sustainability. In fact, the hotel's composting increased by 30 percent in 2017, the diversion rate improved year-over-year and a new laundry program helped reduce electricity, gas and water by 11 percent from September to year-end. Donations are made to the local Food Bank weekly, menus are organic and regionally sourced and energy-savings Ashrae Level 2 Audit is fully implemented.

The Venetian and The Palazzo

In fact, Las Vegas Sands, their parent company, was named the most sustainable leading hospitality company in the world in the Newsweek "Green Ratings." The resort continually invests in technologies and programs that minimize the environmental impact of all events. Green Meetings concierges can design custom sustainability initiatives to address the unique needs and goals of every meeting.

Anaheim Marriott

Anaheim Marriott, a hotel with 1,030 guest rooms and 169,992 square feet of meeting space, has significant energy usage. The property installed an industry-leading solar system on three portions of the roof in 2017, thereby slashing energy consumption by 8 percent. The solar panels fuel the daily renewable power needs of nearly one-third of the guest rooms with renewable energy. Other green initiatives include a recycling program, EV charging stations, energy efficient chiller plants, hot water boilers, light bulbs, signage and exterior lighting, and a hydroponic vertical garden.

Shangri-La Barr AL Jissah Resort & Spa

Shangri-La Barr AL Jissah Resort & Spa is one of only five turtle nesting sites in all of Oman. The endangered Green Turtle and critically endangered Hawksbill Turtle lay their nests on the resort's beach. Resort construction was strictly monitored by the Ministry of Environment with guidance from the Five Oceans Environmental Services to achieve minimum disturbance and gain maximum benefits once the hotel opened. Two full-time Turtle Rangers monitor and record all turtle activities and educate the community and guests about threats facing turtles.

The adults-only resort has recently elevated its standard of hospitality to a new level, being only the second resort in all of Cancun to obtain the international "Green Key" award. This program, already present in over 50 countries, calls for sustainable practices in hospitality establishments and seeks to contribute to environmental education and prevention of climate change.
